Areas of Clinical Focus
I work with individuals navigating perfectionism, burnout, unhealthy relationship patterns, attachment difficulties, problematic technology use, substance-related concerns, anxiety and depression. Explore each area to learn more about the specific challenges I treat.
-
I specialize in working with individuals struggling with substance use and problematic technology use, including excessive gaming, social media, and screen time. My approach focuses on understanding the emotional and behavioral patterns driving these habits, exploring their impact on daily functioning and relationships, and developing healthier ways to cope.
-
Another strong focus of my clinical work is supporting high-achieving women who have learned to abandon themselves in dating and relationships. You may over-accommodate, question your instincts, or minimize your needs to maintain connection. Our work is about rebuilding healthy boundaries and a strong selfhood, so you can have meaningful relationships without disappearing inside of them.
-
Some of my most meaningful work is with college students and professionals who are capable and motivated, yet feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unable to move forward in the way they want. We work to identify the gridlocks to your success and address each one thoroughly so as to reach a new baseline of functioning.
-
I work with individuals experiencing persistent worry, overthinking, self-criticism, low motivation, and emotional exhaustion. Together, we explore underlying patterns, develop healthier ways of coping, and foster greater emotional balance and self-understanding.
Hi! Welcome to Nama Therapy. I’m Suni, and I keep my practice very intentional because I want to have the space to really know the people I work with. I want to understand your story, your relationships, the experiences that have shaped you, and the parts of yourself you may still be trying to make sense of. I believe there is so much more to each of us than what we show the world, and I want our work together to make room for all of it.
I’m human first and a therapist second so I bring my full presence and humanity into the room, and I care deeply about the person sitting across from me. I find it easy to connect with people from all walks of life, and I care much more about understanding someone as they are than fitting them into a label or category.
My therapeutic style is warm, relational, holistic, and psychodynamic. I’m an active clinician so I won’t simply sit back and only listen. We'll uncover what is underneath the way you feel, cope, and relate while working towards creating meaningful change.
I believe insight and action belong together. Understanding yourself is important, but so is learning to make different choices in everyday life. We work on both by taking manageable steps towards change without waiting for your circumstances to become ideal.
My clinical background spans a range of complex and specialized settings, including forensic psychiatry, rehabilitation and recovery at Omega Recovery, and program development at Texas Health and Human Services Commission. I have also practiced for many years in private group practice with a specialized clinical focus on treating anxiety and depression, substance use, technology addiction, disordered eating, ADHD, academic challenges, and relationship and intimacy challenges.
When I am not working, you’ll find me doing something outdoors, traveling, connecting with family and friends, and taking in some art and music. My favorite places to be are in cultures and countries that engage all of my senses all at once.
